Heron Lodge Farm

Well folks, I spent almost an hour yesterday telling all about our trip to see Chris and Peter at the weekend, and lo and behold blogger lost it.

So here it is again, probably not so well remembered as before, but I try.

On Saturday we were invited to go see Chris and Peter to celebrate his 40th birthday - Happy Birthday Peter - so we set off with some very dodgy instuctions of how to get there, the address and a memory of some five year old photographs taken before the restoration work began.

The first bit was easy, turn off the motorway at Junction 37, turn right and it's on the left, you just go over the bridgs, round the bend and it's just there on the left. So after umpteen bridges, bends and false alarms and some 17 miles later, we were there. And there were balloons - I know there would be.

So we set to and enjoyed ourselves - Alice got to swim in the pool on the rocks, I got a burger and some sausages (more, more) and of course some fruit and cream. My mum got praised for her presentation of her present. We got the full look-round and even saw the goslings. The place is a real credit to them, you can see evidence all over the place of the effort that has gone into making the place such a pleasure to visit. I am looking forward to going again, possibly to commission the generator?

We set off for home at 10.40 and we were sitting in our kitchen at midnight, much quicker when you know the way.

Definitely a lie in day the next day - on account of the wine of course, but the mini heat wave went on and I was rudely woken by cries from the children for me to fill the pool. So the search was on - where on earth (or more precisely the loft) was the pool? Four of us searched for over an hour in the stifling heat of the loft until I finally found it.

Alice and Sophie spent the next hour pumping it up, then waited impatiently while it filled with water, then splashed in it for twenty minutes then went indoors for a rest. The pool is still full, mostly with rainwater now, and no-one has touched it for days.

So Monday dawned cold and wet, so I had to go to work on the BMW, I had planned to use the other bike, but I thought I needed to be slightly drier.
Tuesday was much the same, so the BMW got used again, at least as far as Golborne. I hit a bend at 60ish and the back tyre suddenly deflated as I got a puncture in it. Aafter swerving all over the road, well my lane at least, I came to a halt with a stalled angine and drenched in sweat.

It's not easy wrestling 600lbs of bike with a flat rear tyre, they ought to make it an olympic event - you could sell tickets. Needless to say I won't need to go to the gym for a week or two.

I phoned the RAC and they said "within 60 minutes", but when no show after 70 mins I called them back, they made enquiries and told me "within 30 mins"
A truck turned up and took me home 40 mins later. Service or what?

So as I had to have a wash and change my shirt (sweaty) I decided to let Lorraine run me to work, and I'll get a lift home.

Oh what an exciting life I lead eh?

In September I will have had the website for two years, so I think it's long overdue for a revamp. So when I get it done I'll let everyone know.

But for now, it's time to do some work.
